Paolo Ceravolo is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Milan, where he combines a solid humanistic background – a degree in Philosophy – with deep scientific expertise gained through a PhD in Computer Science. His research activity focuses on artificial intelligence, process mining, the design of human-centered systems, and the evaluation of information systems, with a strong emphasis on social impact and innovation.

Author of over 180 peer-reviewed scientific publications and with an H-index of 24 (Google Scholar), he has held leadership roles in numerous European and national research projects, including SMART-BEAR, TOREADOR, and MUSA, in which he addressed emerging topics such as federated learning, augmented reality, and ethical AI. He has been a visiting professor in Austria, Germany, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates, confirming his established international network.

His commitment to teaching is reflected in over twenty years of experience in degree courses, master's programs, and doctoral studies, in fields ranging from cybersecurity to digital communication. He is the author of the manual Fundamentals of Computer Science for the Humanities (Pearson, 2025), the result of his interdisciplinary approach to teaching. He has supervised dozens of bachelor's and doctoral theses, many of which in collaboration with companies.

Within the framework of the university's third mission, it promotes scientific dissemination on topics such as AI, digital rights, and digital citizenship, and curates events and awards that connect research and society. It is also the founder of an innovative startup in the field of digital political communication.

His work is recognized by national and international awards and by appointments to prominent editorial and scientific committees. Since 2024, he has been a member of the Human-Centered AI Research Center at the University of Milan.
