Curriculum

Dr. Giovanna Baron is a tenure-track researcher in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Milan. She graduated with honors in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies and holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences. She has gained solid experience in the field of analysis and bioanalysis of bioactive compounds, with particular attention to metabolomics and mass spectrometry.

His research activity focuses on the identification of small biologically active molecules in plant matrices, often derived from agri-food by-products, and on the study of their bioavailability, bioactivity, and mechanism of action, using advanced analytical technologies such as liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry and quantitative proteomics. He is also involved in the development of analytical methods for the characterization of functional cosmetic ingredients, including hyaluronic acid.

She conducted a research period abroad at the University of Geneva and collaborates with numerous international groups. She is the author of over 50 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and actively participates in editorial activities as a guest editor and reviewer for several prominent scientific journals. She teaches in university and postgraduate courses, where she instructs on innovative methods for the characterization of natural products and their metabolites.

Currently, he is the Principal Investigator and head of a unit in funded research projects and a member of several scientific societies, including the Italian Chemical Society. He combines a strong scientific activity with a commitment to training young researchers, mentoring undergraduate, doctoral, and post-doctoral students in their experimental projects.
