Milan, February 18, 2025 – Women&Tech® - Association of Women and Technologies - ETS, a network for the promotion of female talent in technology, innovation, and scientific research, announces the 19th edition of the Tecnovisionarie® International Award, a worldwide event that celebrates female genius and innovation, with a particular focus on the future. The award ceremony will be held on May 28, 2025, at the evocative National Museum of Science and Technology “Leonardo da Vinci” in Milan.

This year, the prestigious award is dedicated to young female researchers under 40 who are redefining the boundaries of science and technology in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, new materials, space, energy and environment, health, and biotechnology. In a constantly evolving world, the prize aims to recognize women who, with passion and expertise, are building a more innovative and sustainable tomorrow.

The International Tecnovisionarie® Award is promoted by Women&Tech® ETS, Association of Women and Technologies, which has been committed for years to enhancing female talent in the technological and scientific fields. The jury, composed of prominent figures from the worlds of culture, communication, and the specific thematic areas of the competition categories, will select the winners based on their vision, social impact, transparency, and ethics.

Because the future is in the hands of women

The awarded women not only embody talent and ingenuity but also serve as role models for today’s girls and young women, inspiring future generations to pursue extraordinary paths. Their contribution is essential in shaping a fair and sustainable future, where diversity and inclusion are the pillars of innovation.

"The future is in the hands of women and young female researchers who are today building a more equitable and sustainable tomorrow. With the Tecnovisionarie® Award, we want not only to recognize their commitment but also to inspire other young women to follow in their footsteps, embracing innovation and social responsibility," says Gianna Martinengo, President of Women&Tech® ETS.

A challenge and an opportunity

This edition of the award highlights the importance of female involvement in research, emphasizing the challenges that still exist, especially in STEM fields. Although progress has been made, women continue to be underrepresented in these disciplines, as recent studies show. However, positive signs of change are emerging, with increasing participation of women in leadership roles and in significant scientific projects.

In the last ten years, the number of women enrolled and graduating from universities has increased significantly, particularly in the humanities, social sciences, and health sectors. Despite this, a significant disparity persists in STEM disciplines, where the male presence remains dominant and the choice of scientific degrees by women shows no substantial changes. This disparity is also evident in the academic world, where men are still more prevalent in the roles of full and associate professors, despite a slight increase of 4.6% in female rectors over the last decade.

“In 2025, the Tecnovisionarie® International Award is not just a recognition, but a powerful tool of inspiration. It promotes the importance of education and the active involvement of all sectors of society in building a sustainable future. Women do not just invent the future: they live it and build it every day, with creativity, intuition, and determination,” states Gianna Martinengo.

Applications for the Tecnovisionarie® Award 2025 are open until March 31, 2025. It is possible to nominate candidates who, through their work, demonstrate a commitment to a sustainable future, with activities consistent with their vision.
