Week for Gender Equality 2024

The European Parliament Office in Milan and the association Women&Tech® ETS are organizing the event "Women and Digital: Security and Empowerment for Equality," a moment of discussion to explore how gender equality can be guaranteed and promoted in the digital world.

On December 9, 2024, at 4:30 PM, in the Conference Room of the European Parliament in Milan, a dialogue will take place on the role of women in the digital context, raising awareness about the ongoing challenges to ensure concrete and secure gender equality in the tech world.

The president of the Equal Opportunities and Civil Rights Commission of the Municipality of Milan Diana De Marchi, the president and founder of Women&Tech ETS Gianna Martinengo, the president and CEO of SAP Italy Carla Masperi, the vice-rector for diversity, inclusion, and sustainability at Bocconi University Paola Profeta, and the president and founder of the Global Thinking Foundation Claudia Segre will participate.

The work will be coordinated by Federica Seneghini, journalist of Corriere della Sera, following the institutional greetings from Maurizio Molinari, Head of the European Parliament Office in Milan, and Anna Gandolfi, equal opportunities advisor of the Lombardy Region.

Background

The meeting is part of the Gender Equality Week 2024 (GEW) of the European Parliament, which this year will be held from December 9 to 15, dedicated to the theme “Women in the digital world: safety and empowerment.” Gender Equality Week, established as an annual event on the initiative of the current President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, aims to ensure that the gender perspective is taken into account in many areas of EU competence.
In Italy, in addition to this initiative, a meeting will also be held on December 11 in Rome entitled “Elimination of violence against women and their empowerment in the digital world.”
