We live in an era where information flows nonstop, where opinions and news chase each other in a continuous stream, fueled by digital platforms that promise connections but often create divisions. In this scenario, polarization has become a defining feature of our time.
Based on the contents of the book Polarizations. Information, Opinions, and Other Demons in the Infosphere, written by Walter Quattrociocchi with Antonella Vicini, this event offers a lively and open dialogue between Quattrociocchi himself – one of the leading international experts in the study of disinformation and online social dynamics – and Stefano A. Cerri, a European pioneer of artificial intelligence and an authoritative voice in the debate on emerging technologies.
A comparison between two complementary perspectives: on one side, the scientific analysis of collective behavior in the digital ecosystem; on the other, the critical view of those who have been working for decades on the relationship between humans and technology. At the center of the dialogue, an urgent question: how can we rebuild spaces for authentic dialogue in the era of echo chambers?
The event, promoted by Women&Tech® ETS as part of the T-Essere project, aims to be an opportunity to reflect on the present and future of the infosphere, on the role of platforms, and on the urgency of promoting critical and complex thinking, beyond the simplifications imposed by speed and digital noise.
