Carlotta Sami

Carlotta Sami, milanese, 43 anni, da più di 15 lavora nel campo dei diritti umani e degli interventi umanitari. Da gennaio 2014 è la portavoce per il Sud Europa dell’Alto Commissariato delle Nazioni Unite per i Rifugiati (UNHCR). In precedenza è stata direttrice generale di Amnesty International in Italia e per dieci anni ha lavorato in operazioni umanitarie nei principali luoghi di crisi, con l’organizzazione Save the Children International. Nel 1998, sino al 2002, è nei Territori Palestinesi dove, fra Betlemme ed Hebron, lavora nei campi profughi Palestinesi, coordinando diversi interventi di emergenza. Dottore di ricerca in Teoria generale del Diritto ha una laurea in Giurisprudenza. È sposata e mamma di una bimba di 7 anni, Matilde.

Carlotta Sami has been working for over fifteen years in the field of international relations, human rights and humanitarian intervention. In 2012 she was General Director of Amnesty International in Italy. Since January 2014 she is Spokeperson of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Regional Office for Southern Europe. From 2003 to 2008 she served as Program Director and Spokesperson for Save the Children in Italy and until 2012 she dealt globally with humanitarian emergencies for the organization, by coordinating communication strategies. Carlotta Sami began her career in 1998 in the Palestinian Territories where she worked with the Local Technical Unit of the Italian Cooperation in Jerusalem and with many other Italian and international organizations. In 1998, after a Master degree in Law, she obtained her PhD in General Theory of Law at the State University of Milan. She’s married and mother of a 7 years old girl, Matilde.
