Cristina Bosetti holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Milan and Post-Graduate Diploma in Pharmacological Research from the “Mario Negri” Institute. She has been working as a research scientist at the Department of Epidemiology of the "Mario Negri" Institute since 1996 and since 2005, she is Head of the Unit of Cancer Epidemiology. Her main fields of interest include the epidemiology of cancer and cardiovascular diseases; case-control studies on cancers of the upper respiratory and digestive sites, breast, hormone-related cancers, and on ischaemic heart disease; analyses of the risks related to diet, alcohol, tobacco, reproductive and hormonal factors, occupational and environmental exposure to toxic substances; analyses of temporal trends and geographic patterns of mortality from cancer and other chronic conditions; quantitative reviews and meta-analyses on various environmental exposures and cancer risk. She has been a visiting scientist at the Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, MA; the International Agency for Research on Cancer, Lyon, France; and the International Epidemiology Institute, Rockville, MD, USA. She participated in various national and international projects, supported by the Italian Association for Research on Cancer (AIRC), the Italian League against Cancer (LILT) and the European commission (EC). She has over 250 publications on peer reviewed journals cited in PubMed/MEDLINE (mean IF: 4.3; H-index: 38, according to Google Scholar of SCOPUS) which contributed to the assessment and quantification of the risk of common cancers in relation to diet and other environmental exposures.
