Anna Gastel, nata a Milano nel 1953, si laurea nel 1977 all’Università Cattolica di Milano in lettere e filosofia a indirizzo artistico. Selezionata per il primo corso istituito dalla casa d’aste inglese Cristhies’ in storia dell’antiquariato, viene poi assunta presso la sede londinese; dopo quattro anni si trasferisce alla sede romana e diviene il primo battitore donna nella storia della più antica casa d’aste del mondo.
Ha inoltre lavorato a oltre 60 cataloghi di esposizioni e a numerose altre pubblicazioni; ha intrattenuto rapporti con i più noti storici dell’arte.
Nel 2006 inizia a collaborare con il FAI - Fondo Ambiente Italiano; nel 2008 entra come Consigliere nel CDA ed è nominata Presidente del FAI Lombardia; nel 2009 diviene anche membro del Comitato Esecutivo; tra il 2010 e il 2012 pensa e costruisce il “FAIGiovani”; nel 2011 contribuisce alla fondazione del FAI Swiss, di cui diviene Consigliere; nel 2013 è nominata Vicepresidente Nazionale del FAI e lascia la Presidenza FAI Lombardia dopo avere portato gli iscritti lombardi da 13.000 a 38.000.
Nel 2015 ha rassegnato le proprie dimissioni al CDA da Vicepresidente Nazionale del FAI, da Consigliere e da componente del Comitato Esecutivo.
Da dicembre 2015 è Presidente del Festival Internazionale MITO Settembre Musica, il maggior festival italiano di musica classica.
Anna Gastel, born in Milan in 1953, graduates in 1977 at the Università Cattolica di Milano, faculty of “Literature and Philosophy”. At the age of 24, she is selected to be admitted in the first ever course on the “History of Antiques” instituted by British auction house Christies’ and is hired by the London branch of the firm. Four years later she is transferred to Christies’ Rome branch and becomes the first ever female auctioneer of the oldest auction house in the world.
She also works throughout the years on a variety of art publications and entertains close ties with some of the most famous art historians.
She begins to collaborate with FAI - Fondo Ambiente Italiano - in 2006. In 2008 she joins the FAI’s CDA as Advisor and is subsequently nominated President of FAI Lombardy; in 2009 she also becomes member of the Executive Committee. Between 2010 and 2012 Anna is “Godmother” to “FAIGiovani” ("FAIYoung"). In 2011 she contributes in the foundation of FAI Swiss. Anna will be nominated National Vice-president FAI in 2013 and will eventually leave the Foundation two years later after having instituted the “Gruppi FAI” (“FAI’s Groups”) and brought the number of FAI Lombardy subscribers from 13.000 to 38.000.
As of December 2015 she is President of MITO Settembre Musica International Festival, one of the greatest classical music festivals in Italy.
